SURTEX® Where Trends Begin
From Concept to Consumer: art for finished goods
White Plains, NY, January 31, 2017 — Designs for every surface begin at SURTEX®. Surface art and textile designs for products are sourced in virtually every category, drawing thousands of manufacturers, retailers and licensees. SURTEX, May 21 – 23, 2017, is the leading market to source original art and design. Hundreds of exhibiting independent artists, art agents and licensing agencies will connect with creative decision-makers representing key manufacturers and retailers at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
Registration for the event is now open. SURTEX features a digital press room, offering both attendees and working press a preview of exhibitor announcements, photos and information about their work and the latest surface and textile design trends at the show.
Prior to the show you can plan and maximize your show experience with Connect™ the SURTEX Show Planner. Once registered, this new planner platform will allow you to view exhibitor profiles, preview art and set up meetings. The Connect Planner will also be available through the SURTEX mobile app.
The event is one stop shopping for everyone in the industry. Artists, designers and companies know SURTEX as the number one market to shop licensing original artwork, prints and patterns. Many of the top companies fulfill their product development needs at SURTEX’s Art & Brand licensing section. For companies seeking private label needs, manufacturers and retailers visit the Atelier section to buy licenses. This part of the show features global art agencies and design studios. SURTEX has already filled its Design District, introduced in 2016, as a section dedicated to new-to-exhibit artists, featuring emerging artists’ designs that cannot be sourced elsewhere.
From seasoned to just starting out, SURTEX has something for all creative minds. As part of its designext ® international student competition, young artists and designers have the opportunity to showcase their work on a world stage. This year’s theme is GEO– a combination of natural geode stones and modern geometric shapes. The students submit six original designs in one of four categories: Wear, Work, Live or Play. This year the competition will feature more than 95 entries from nearly 20 colleges and universities.
